Why I’m Rethinking My Closet, My Rhythms, and My Life

Hi, I’m Michelle — welcome.

I’m so excited to bring this dream to life. As I am just launching this Blog and YouTube Channel, I thought I should tell you a little about what to expect. While I will be talking loads about fashion, this space isn’t just about style. It’s about something deeper: inner peace, intentional living, and alignment over aesthetics. (But don’t worry, I want us to look good too). For me, style isn’t about trends — it’s about truth and learning to love this abundance of garments and accessories I already have. It’s about choosing a life that feels good on the inside, not just one that looks good on the outside.

Our Little Slice of Heaven (That Taught Me a Big Life Lesson)

In September 2024, my partner and I bought what we lovingly call our “little slice of heaven” — a modest two-bedroom, two-bathroom home tucked in a quiet rural township in Indiana. From the moment we saw it, we were smitten — especially with the kitchen and the potential we saw in the yard. The house itself was small but mighty. Beautiful. Enough. At least, we thought so.

But the truth started showing up in stacked boxes that had nowhere to go. Items we brought with us — items that once brought joy — now felt like clutter. The space wasn’t the issue. The excess was. And that realization made me uncomfortable. Why did I have so much more than I needed?

When a Closet Becomes a Mirror

If you’ve ever looked at a closet full of clothes and still thought, “I have nothing to wear,” you’re not alone. I’ve been there. I love fashion. I love the art of getting dressed. I love the feeling of expression it brings. However, in this new season of life — in a smaller space shared with my partner and our three senior pups — the limits of our home revealed the excess in my habits.

Over the past year, I started downsizing my wardrobe. I tried capsule systems. I moved my partner’s things to make space. I reorganized. I purged. And yet, somehow, it still felt like too much. And that’s when it hit me: the stuff wasn’t the problem. It was a symptom!

Beneath the piles was a deeper story. One that had more to do with my mindset than my storage. I began to ask harder questions:

  • “Do I actually need this?”

  • “Does this serve the lifestyle I actually live?”

  • “How is this purchase shaping our future?”

Sure, external factors like inflation or politics make us all reflect on our spending, but I realized the bigger shift had to happen internally. Sometimes, shopping isn’t about the item. It’s about what we hope it will give us: confidence, validation, a sense of belonging. But here’s the truth: I already have what I need. I have more than enough. And I want to live like I believe that.

My Channel Is About Finding Your Confidence From Within — Because Younger Me Needed It.

As I have been so reflective about my purchases, I have also become very reflective about my life, my decisions, and who I was when I was younger. I needed someone to give me advice, no judgement or questions asked. So, what can you expect from this channel moving forward?

I’m building something different. Something slower. Something real. (Or at least I hope).
